Dr. Matthew Clifton and Dr. Jonathan Pollock Join our Faculty
Joining our Division of Pediatric Surgery as an Assistant Professor, Dr. Matthew Clifton completed his general surgery residency at the University of California as well as a research fellowship at the institution's Fetal Treatment Center, followed by a pediatric surgery fellowship at Emory that he completed in July 2010. His clinical specialties include single site laparoscopic surgery, trauma surgery, neonatal surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, colorectal surgery, and patent ductus arteriosus ligation, while his research interests are pediatric minimally invasive surgical techniques, abdominal wall defects and gastroschisis, urea cycle disorders, and surgical device innovation and design.
Dr. Jonathan Pollock completed his general surgery residency at Emory in June 2010 and joined the Division of General and GI Surgery to lead the recently launched Acute and Critical Care Surgery service at Emory University Hospital while also developing the Emory Global Surgery Program. For the latter, Dr. Pollock will travel to eastern Africa to pursue his goal of educating Ethiopian surgical trainees. When all preparations are complete and Dr. Pollock's site is established, our Global Health Program will be one of only a handful of such initiatives in the world and will serve as a unique and invaluable training outpost for residents.
