For detailed information on our three primary programs, please review our WOCNEC information packet. The first six weeks of this ten-week program are devoted to Emory campus-based didactic instruction, followed by four weeks of clinical preceptorship and project completion that encompass three weeks of clinical, two days to complete the inservice requirement, and three days to be used as clinical "make-up" days. Clinical assignments are selected to provide each student with a wide range of experiences in wound, ostomy, and continence care at a variety of clinical facilities in the metro-Atlanta area — those prospective students who wish to focus on just one or two specialties should see the single or dual specialty section below. All clinical experience is provided in tandem with an experienced and approved preceptor. Personal transportation is required, as most of the clinical facilities are off campus and often inaccessible by public transportation. In order to assist applicants in selecting the course of study that best meets their particular needs and situation, the faculty have identified the advantages and disadvantages of each of the three program types. Please note that the professional practice component of the program is required for all students; the only exception being students who have already completed a WOCN-accredited specialty course. Tuition is titrated for single or dual specialty courses. Onsite weeks are scheduled based on student readiness, but are typically held every other month. The total cost of the program, excluding textbook costs,
housing, etc., is $6,025 ($5,925 tuition fee, which includes modules,
five weeks didactic, and 120 hours of arranged A Baccalaureate Degree is required for admission; RNs with a Baccalaureate in a field other than nursing must document coursework or experience in health assessment, research and statistics, leadership and management, and community health nursing.
Scholarships are available through the WOCN. Once completed, the downloadable application must be received by the WOCN National Office by January 1st or August 1st . Applications may be submitted before the program begins, during the program, or by the first application deadline immediately following graduation.
