Dr. Kooby's Treatment of Monica Pearson's Cancer Featured in Winship Magazine
Emory surgical oncologist David Kooby, MD, confirmed the diagnosis of former WSB-TV anchor Monica Kaufman Pearson's liver cancer in January 2015. The trajectory of that treatment, which included Dr. Kooby's performance of a right hepatectomy that removed close to 60 percent of Ms. Pearson's liver, was featured in the Fall 2015 edition of Winship Magazine, the official publication of the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
Beginning with the diagnosis, the feature describes the treatment process that followed, which left Ms. Pearson with a positive prognosis and an ongoing relationship with Dr. Kooby, who she sees her every six months for an MRI scan and blood work. Read the feature and watch the video here.
