Dr. Feliciano and Dr. Haack Honored as Grady Healthcare Heroes
On March 19th, Dr. David Feliciano and Dr. Carla Haack were among the Healthcare Hero Honorees celebrated at the Inaugural White Coat Grady Gala held at the Georgia Aquarium. The event was attended by 630 Atlantans and raised $869,000 to support medical treatment, education and research at Grady Memorial Hospital. The black-tie evening was sponsored by the Grady Health Foundation, a 501(c) 3 public charity committed to raising funds for Georgia's largest safety net hospital.
A luminary in the fields of vascular and abdominal trauma with over 33 years post-fellowship experience in general surgery, vascular surgery, trauma systems and care and surgical critical care, Dr. Feliciano has been Grady's Surgeon-in-Chief since 1992 and its Chief of Vascular Surgery since 2004. Dr. Haack is a chief resident who will complete her training this July, at which point she will join the faculty of the Department of Surgery and begin directing the Acute and Critical Care Surgery Service at Emory University Hospital.
In their video introductions, Dr. Feliciano was praised for his "almost superhuman dedication to his patients" and thanked for "making Grady work," while Dr. Haack was referred to as "the face of the limitless future at Grady Hospital."
