Faculty Group Receive Kennedy Seed Grant
Drs. Keith Delman, Chris Larsen, Mandy Ford, Mike Lowe, Rafi Ahmed and Sameer Patel have been awarded a Kennedy Seed Grant Research Award from the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University to fund their collaborative study "Analysis of Immune Phenotype and Functionality with Correlation to Survival in Patients with Malignant Melanoma." The group will receive $50,000 over two years to investigate the function and characteristics of T-lymphocytes in patients with melanoma, particularly comparing patients with recurrent disease to those who do not recur.
Kennedy Seed Grants are presented to cancer research faculty to support innovative projects, encourage career growth and foster greater collaboration among investigators. The grants are made possible through a generous gift from James Kennedy, CEO of Cox Enterprises, and his wife, Sarah, to help support innovative cancer research that is not currently supported through other funding sources.
