Dr. Delman joined the Emory Department of Surgery in 2005 and quickly evolved into a highly active surgeon-researcher-educator. When he was appointed director of the Thalia and Michael Carlos and Alfred A. Davis Center for Surgical Anatomy and Technique (CSAT) in 2012, he began the process of adapting CSAT's mission of promoting the anatomic basis of modern surgical care to contemporary communication technologies. Dr. Srinivasan manages various training opportunities at both Emory's Center for Experiential Learning (EXCEL) and the Department of Surgery's own 24-hour simulation lab in the Office of Surgical Education. In addition to her Emory-based clinical, academic, and research pursuits, Dr. Srinivasan has participated in the Emory Haiti Alliance's month-long surgical trips to Haiti's Central Plateau — the poorest and most medically underserved region in the country — as a leader and mentor since 2010. Johanna Hinman

Ms. Hinman collaborates with Dr. Delman on the management and planning of CSAT's activities. In addition, she manages the Office of Surgical Education, which encompasses the general surgery residency and medical student programs, as well as other educational courses offered by Department of Surgery faculty. In this role, she works closely with both Dr. Delman and Dr. Barbara Pettitt. Prior to joining Emory Surgery in 2012, she worked for the Emory Prevention Research Center in the Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH), where she was responsible for the administration of the core PRC grant. Ms. Hinman graduated magna cum laude from Carleton College with a BA in English. She then earned an MPH in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education from RSPH, where she now teaches in the Executive Master of Public Health program. She is also a Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) and past president of the Georgia Public Health Association.

DeShundra King

DeShundra King

Ms. King focuses on the expanding portfolio of simulation training in Emory Surgery and in partnership with other departments, collaborating with faculty and simulation specialists in designing, planning, implementing, and evaluating simulation education activities and curricula. Prior to Emory, Ms. King retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service. She worked as an aerospace medical service technician at 12 different medical treatment facilities, treating patients diagnosed with injuries ranging from complex traumatic blast injuries to minor illnesses. She also gained a strong foundation in managing education and training programs, instructing and documenting various medical procedures and practices, and coordinating mass medical training events for different organizations in the military network and joint services. Ms. King graduated magna cum laude from Trident University International with an MBA in International Business and a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education.

Andy Matlock

Prior to joining CSAT in 2013, Mr. Matlock worked for the NIH's National Library of Medicine (NLM), where he was involved with art direction, video production and editing, documentaries, and website development. Before NLM, Mr. Matlock was the first staff medical illustrator for the Atlanta-based WebMD. As a member of CSAT, Mr. Matlock is focusing on generating digital tools that will teach medical students, residents, and physicians about the critical role surgical anatomy plays in the operating room.

Dr. Sharon Muret-Wagstaff

Dr. Muret-Wagstaff's work concentrates on the development of learning and performance systems at the individual, team, and organizational levels to increase quality of care and patient safety. In addition to being a member of the CSAT advisory board, she leads CSAT's High Fidelity Simulation Program; directs the Co-management of Operating Room Emergencies (CORE) Simulation Program for teams of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses at Emory; and chairs the Simulation Teaching and Research Initiative of Atlanta. She is also founding faculty director of the CMS Learning Systems Program for the Innovation Center at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Prior to joining Emory in 2015, Dr. Muret-Wagstaff was an assistant professor of anaesthesia at Harvard and vice chair for faculty development and innovation in anesthesiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Ms. Painter is responsible for the administrative management and operations of CSAT, which includes the Surgical Anatomy, Embryology, and Operative Techniques course. She also coordinates the Emory Department of Surgery's fourth year medical student programs. Mrs. Painter has worked for CSAT since August of 1992. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with a BA in journalism and completed postgraduate coursework in sports nutrition.

Dr. Petitt is the course director of CSAT's Surgical Anatomy, Embryology, and Operative Techniques course. Dr. Pettitt began directing the Emory Department of Surgery's M3 surgical clerkship in 2002 and its M4 Programs in 2004. The surgery clerkship has received consistently high rankings from Emory medical students on the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Graduation Questionnaire. She has undertaken numerous teaching initiatives at Emory, including establishing the Trauma Evaluation and Management course, or TEAM, for Emory M3 students at Grady Memorial Hospital.
