Dr. Styblo joined the faculty of the Emory Department of Surgery in 1988 and has been a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery since 1986. She is the Georgia State Representative for the Association of Women Surgeons, a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of numerous medical societies including the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Styblo is the physician liaison of the American College of Surgeons Cancer Program at Emory University Hospital and a member of the Breast Committee of both NRG and ECOG-ACRIN national oncology cooperative groups.

For over three decades, Dr. Styblo has been active both locally and nationally in clinical and translational research. Of particular note are her research collaborations with the late Dr. John Bostwick in skin-sparing mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction, with Emory radiologist Dr. Naomi Alazraki in clinical trials to establish sentinel lymph node biopsy as a standard of care for axillary staging, and with Emory plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Albert Losken in the use of oncoplastic reduction to improve the outcome of patients having breast conserving therapy.

In 2014, Dr. Styblo was appointed chair of the Winship and Emory Healthcare Integrated Cancer Network, which linked cancer treatment providers and staff at Emory University Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown, Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital, and Emory Johns Creek Hospital. During the next year, she concentrated on achieving the required qualifications to be recognized by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACS CoC) as an official integrated network cancer program. These included insuring that each facility met performance expectations for quality measures, registry operations were standardized with a uniform data repository, service locations and practitioners were coordinated, and a unified referral system for cancer-related clinical trials was in place. In 2016, the ACS CoC granted the network full accreditation.
