Biography
Dr. Sancheti received his MD from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2006, after which he did a general surgery residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City from 2006-2011. He joined our faculty after completing his cardiothoracic surgery residency on a general thoracic track at Emory.
Among Dr. Sancheti's clinical specialties are thoracic oncology, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, esophageal surgery, lung transplantation, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), and robotic lobectomy.
Dr. Sancheti is a national leader in robotic thoracic surgical technique and training. He has developed a model robotic thoracic surgery curriculum for Emory cardiothoracic surgery residents, trains thoracic surgeons from all over the world in robotic surgery, assumed direction of Emory Healthcare's robotic thoracic surgery program in 2017, and shaped the robotic thoracic surgery program at Emory Saint Joseph's Hospital into one of the busiest such programs in Georgia and the entire Southeast.
As the medical director of the team that created Emory CSAT's Surgical Anatomy of the Lung app, Dr. Sancheti was heavily involved in developing an interactive, comprehensive, and multifunctional 3D tool for preoperative planning, education, and physician-to-patient communication.
