Biography

Dr. Magliocca received his MD at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1999, completed his general surgery residency at the University of Michigan Health System in 2004, and did his research and clinical fellowships in transplant surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics from 2004-2007. Prior to coming to Emory, he was surgical director of adult and pediatric liver transplantation as well as pancreas transplantation at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He also directed the medical student and resident education components of UF's transplant and hepatobiliary surgery program.

His current endeavors include being an associate editor of the American Journal of Transplantation, the world's most widely read peer-reviewed publication for transplant professionals, and serving on the PROACTOR Task Force (PROviding better ACcess To ORgans) of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. PROACTOR is investigating ways to increase access to transplantation.
