Year Joined Emory as a Faculty Member: 2010

Following the completion of his general surgery residency at Emory in July 2010, Dr. Pollock joined the faculty of the Emory Department of Surgery. The development of the Department's Emory Global Surgery Program was an outgrowth of Dr. Pollock's career interests. In 2011, he accepted a position as assistant program director of the general surgery residency of the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS) at Soddo Christian Hospital in Soddo, Wolliata, Ethiopia, while retaining his Emory appointment and laying the groundwork for the Global Surgery Program. The American Board of Surgery granted approval to the program in early 2012, making it one of the first ABS-sanctioned international surgical training experiences, and Dr. Pollock began welcoming Emory general surgery residents to Soddo Hospital in 2013. Dr. Pollock also led the PAACS training program at Myungsung Christian Medical Center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia's capital, during this period. In 2016, he returned to Emory's stateside location in Atlanta.
