Year Joined Emory as a Faculty Member: 2007

After completing her general surgery residency at Emory in 2006, Dr. Srinivasan joined our faculty. She was appointed director of surgical simulation and elective programs in 2011, and integrated a small groups simulation training model into the resident curriculum as an antidote to large-scale training sessions. She was appointed chair of the general surgery resident education committee in 2013, associate program director of the general surgery residency in 2014, and full program director in 2020.

Dr. Srinivasan manages various training opportunities at both the SOM's Center for Experiential Learning (EXCEL) and the Department of Surgery's own 24-hour simulation lab in the Office of Surgical Education, which is located in Emory University Hospital. The workshops range from fundamental surgical skill sessions to programs tailored to individual needs in open and endosurgical procedural skills and OR-based team training.

Dr. Srinivasan has participated in the Emory Haiti Alliance's month-long surgical trips to Haiti as a leader and mentor since 2010. This consortium of faculty surgeons and anesthesiologists; surgery residents; anesthesiology fellows; medical students; and mid-level practitioners provides surgical care in the summer to residents of Haiti's Central Central Plateau, the poorest and most medically underserved region in the country.
