As the Chief of Veterinary Medicine at Yerkes National Primate Research Center, a position she has held since 1976, Dr. Strobert has worked closely with numerous Emory Transplant Center researchers including Dr. Chris Larsen. Her collaboration with ETC researchers has resulted in the successful development of nonhuman primate models now used for islet cell transplantation, bone marrow transplantation, and graft versus host disease. She is the first faculty member of the Department of Surgery to be assigned the recently initiated medical educator and service track (MEST). In addition to managing the daily schedule and assignments of staff at Yerkes, Dr. Strobert provides consultation to external investigators who are planning research programs at the center and oversees the Yerkes-based training for veterinary residents.
