Biography

Dr. Cheng received her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of Texas-Houston, her plastic surgery residency at the University of Virginia, and her breast and microsurgery fellowship at UT Southwestern.

Dr. Cheng's clinical specialties include breast surgery, breast reconstruction, microsurgery reconstruction, lymphedema surgery, and body contouring. Her primary research area is breast reconstruction, particularly improving access, outcomes, aesthetics, and surgical treatment of lymphedema. She is also interested in developing techniques for reconstructing complex wounds and improving limb salvage.

Dr. Cheng has been involved in a variety of quality improvement projects at Emory and Grady Memorial Hospital, including helping to standardize microsurgical instrument trays across the hospitals, creating microsurgery and hand surgery post-operative order sets at Grady, obtaining new flap monitoring technology, and working with orthopedics to develop the "smash cart" to facilitate care for digit/hand replantation emergencies. She also dedicates many hours to resident training.
